A HEADSTONE was erected today in honour of Flying Officer Robin Jaques who died when his Avro 504 K aircraft crashed in the field between Cold Harbour and Old Somerby, in August 1923.
He left a widow and two young children, one of whom, 18-month-old Josephine Edwina Jaques became favourite film & TV comedy actress Hattie Jacques.
The engraved Portland Stone headstone was be unveiled in his memory.
Rev Brian Lucas (Retired Air Vice Marshal and Chaplain of RAF) conducted a short Service of remembrance.
The RAFA, Royal British Legion, Burma Veterans paraded with their Colours and 47F ATC was in attendance.
Other Retired Members of Royal Air Force and other Services were also there.
Unfortunately, a fly-pay by a Hurricane and and Spitfire from the RAF Coningsby-based Battle of Britain Flight, had to be cancelled due to mechanical problems.
