Two Grantham swimmers did their club proud at the British Summer Championships.
William Hawkes and Eleanor Lythgoe did a storming job of flying the flag for Grantham at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.
William scooped two bronze medals, in the 100m breaststroke and the 200m breaststroke – with both swims breaking Lincolnshire county records.
The 14-year-old from Croxton Kerrial also made finals in the 50m breast, where he missed a medal by 0.06 seconds and the 200m freestyle. Will also qualified to swim the 200IM, placing 14th out of 24.
Eleanor Lythgoe, also 14, swam 200 butterfly. Eleanor attacked the race and finished on her PB, in 12th position. A great result for her first competition at national level.
This week swimmers from Grantham are taking part in the English Nationals, also at Ponds Forge.
William returns to swim the 400 individual medley and the 400 freestyle and Eleanor will take part in the 100m butterfly.
They’ll be joined by Thomas Lewis (200 backstroke) Molly Colbert (100m freestyle), Sophie Culpin (200m fly and 400IM) and Hayley Milne (100m free, 100 breast, 200IM and 50 free).
