A MAN walking his dog claims he saw men with guns on the Hills and Hollows on Sunday.
And a woman says she saw them walking down Gorse Road.
But police insist there was no danger to the public.
The dog-walker said the men jumped out with guns pointed at him so he ran.
He says he rang 999, but nothing seem to happen
He said: “When I did a follow up call, I was told they did not send any one to look.
“With all the trouble in the world with guns this should have been there first concern.”
Grantham Inspector Gary Stewart said: “A report was received into the Force Control Room by a concerned member of the public regarding a male who jumped out of the bushes when he was walking hi s dog in the Hills and Hollows in Grantham.
“A second report came in from another member of the public who had seen a number of men with rifles in the same area.
“The area was searched by Lincolnshire Police officers but no persons were found. There were no further sightings of these persons and there were no other incidents that gave cause for concern.
“I realise that this type of sighting could cause distress to the persons coming across the males but it is felt that these males were in the area “lamping”.
“Lincolnshire Police do take these types of incidents seriously and we are aware that in the current climate the general public’s concerns are raised.
“In this incident we are satisfied that there was no danger to any member of the public.”
