Two people arrested in connection with the death of a man in Grantham have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The 20-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, both from Grantham, were detained after emergency services were called to a report of a collapsed man at Inner Street in Grantham at 00:38 yesterday morning (Tuesday 20th January).
The man, who was aged in his late 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment but was sadly later pronounced dead.
A cordon was put in place following the incident while officers carried out enquiries but has since been lifted.
DI Pete Grayson, senior investigating officer, said: “The investigation into the death of this gentleman in ongoing and is still being treated as unexplained. We need to wait for the results of toxicology tests to come back to help us establish the cause of death.
“As it stands the two people who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on police bail while we carry out further inquiries.
“I would like to reassure people that we are confident this is an isolated incident and we are carrying out a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances.”
