HOUSEHOLDS who have their silver bins emptied on a Thursday or Friday will have to wait a month between collections, according to a calendar issued by the district council.
In its magazine SKToday, it shows bins emptied on December 11th& 12th will not see a dustcart again until January 8th & 9th.
And those with Thursdays, black bin and pink bag collections do take place over the New Year period but are a day later than normal on Friday January 2 or Saturday January 3.
Meanwhile, those without bins, will be supplied with extra clear bags to see them through the Christmas period.
SKDC’s Business Manager for Streetcare Services Keith Rowe said: “We have planned to assist customers while there are changes to our collections.
“There will be delivery of extra clear bags in the next few weeks to each of the 24,000 addresses who do not receive silver bin or clear bag collections on Christmas and Boxing Day.
“Their next collections will be Thursday January 8th or Friday January 9th.
We understand that lots of extra side waste is generated at Christmas.
“That’s why we’ll take away an unlimited amount of recyclable items in any clear bags or cardboard boxes, items that are visible to our recycling team that can be recycled, as long as they are not placed in black bags.
“Household Waste Recycling Centres in Grantham or Bourne are also open around the bank holiday period on December 27th, 28th and 29thand January 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th.”
