SKDC’s Waste and Recycling Team have been delivering leaflets to the neighbourhood
THE district council is working with residents in a Grantham neighbourhood to help improve the look of their streets.
Reports of bagged waste and bins being left on pavements at non collection times have increased on Railway Terrace and Grantley Street in the town.
The council is now working with local residents and landlords to advise on the correct times and methods of disposing of their waste with the help of a picture-led leaflet.
SKDC’s Waste and Recycling team are continuing to talk with residents and deliver the leaflets which provide information on the correct use of bins or bags and highlights the day their collections take place.
However the council is also asking residents to help each other to get the message across.
SKDC’s portfolio holder for healthy environment Cllr John Smith said: “We want local people to take pride in the place they live which is why we still need the help of those who live on Grantley Street and Railway Terrace to help educate and encourage others in waste collections.
“Our waste and recycling team are listening to people on the doorstep during the leaflet deliveries about where they see issues and we are continuing to monitor the levels of waste left on the streets in this neighbourhood.”
Residents anywhere in South Kesteven who need further advice on waste collections should call 01476 406080 or visit the council’s dedicated recycling web page www.southkesteven.gov.uk/recyclinglist
