MAJ Dennis Hannant, who has served both in the Regular and Territorial Army for 43 years has a date at the Palace on Tuesday.
Until recently he was on full time Regular Reserve Service with the Royal Logistic Corps, Territorial Army, based at Prince William of Gloucester Barracks, Grantham.
But it is for his singing he is best known in Grantham.
A member of the Grantham Choral Society since 2006 and a tenor soloist since 2008 with a repertoire extending to classical, swing, country and western, folk and popular songs, he will be awarded his MBE at Buckingham Palace.
He performed with the big band, ‘Music Machine’ and a combined Sleaford, Crawley Band at this year’s Heckington Show. He was also at Mayor Ian Selby’s inauguration and Sunday’s (12th) Lion’s concert for pensioners at Walton Girls High School.
He has recently been appointed Town Centre manager for Spalding.
