Rural police received reports of hare coursing in the Dogdike Area. Upon attendance they located two males with a lurcher dog who had permission to legally hunt.
However the report to police suggested they had not been acting legally within the hunting act. Both were arrested on suspicion of hare coursing along with a vehicle, firearm and dog being seized.
The investigation is ongoing.
A spokesman said: “As a team we have been disappointed in those that allow very well known hare coursers to hare course on their land.
“The very people who have trashed your gates and fences leaving us all with sleepless nights over the last few years.
“As well as leaving your fellow members of the farming community who don’t allow the coursers on their land to be left open to further intimidation and threats.
“If we identify hare coursing taking place where permission has been given from a landowner you will also face prosecution.”
