Businesses involved in tourism are invited to a networking event to hear about South Kesteven’s developing Visitor Economy Strategy and the council’s significant investment in the sector.
New projects, new ideas, guest speakers and even a new National Lottery Heritage Fund military heritage visitor trail are all on the agenda at Stamford Arts Centre on 4 November.
The invitation is open to retailers who play a role, attractions, hotels, restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars and food and drink suppliers.
The event, free to attend, will include aspirations for the SK Going for Tourism Growth Project, funded with £150,000 from the council’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, with opportunities for businesses to benefit from free training and workshops.
Destination Lincolnshire will update on progress with its Destination Management Plan and Local Visitor Economy Partnership activity.
New for the District is a £150,000 National Lottery Heritage Fund ‘Soldiers from the Sky’ heritage trail set to draw visitors from home and abroad to commemorate British, American and Polish airborne forces’ presence locally in the build up to D-Day and Arnhem.
Also on the agenda is how tourism businesses can make the most out of high-end TV and feature film production.
Lincolnshire County Council will be presenting its Set Jetting and Film Friendly South Kesteven project, again funded by £50,000 from the UKSPF. The project aims to attract visitors to locations used for film production such as The Crown at Burghley and Queen Charlotte at Belton House.
Cllr Ashley Baxter, Leader of SKDC and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Finance, said: “We have an amazing District with a huge variety of attractions for tourists. These include stately homes such as Grimsthorpe Castle, National Trust properties including the birthplace of Isaac Newton, Britain’s original and arguably finest Conservation Area in Stamford as well as hundreds of miles of open countryside.
“We also have special events and concerts for visitors to enjoy. Our new Visitor Economy Strategy aims to connect together all the businesses who serve tourists. We want to make sure that every hotel, shop, pub and castle is aware of our rich heritage so that visitors have all the information they need to have a great time.”
The free event is aimed at bringing together all businesses, organisations and stakeholders within the visitor economy to share information, meet new people and benefit from new initiatives.
The event includes a leaflet swap between visitor sites and businesses.
