An Aldi colleague in Grantham is celebrating their work anniversary after 20 years at the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket.
Simon Cook, a Store Manager at the Grantham store, first joined the supermarket in 2004 after previously working at another retailer and also as a setter operator.
After joining as an Assistant Store Manager initially, Simon was promoted to Store Manager of the Newark store, before moving on to Bingham and then completing the circle to return to Grantham.
Simon is an integral part of Aldi’s Grantham team and has gone above and beyond in his role over the years, including taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for the supermarket’s dedicated charity Teenage Cancer Trust, showing his commitment to giving back to the community.
Speaking of his time at Aldi, Simon commented: “The best thing about working at Aldi has to be the people you work with. I have made lifelong friends, including both customers and colleagues alike, and I’m looking forward to many more years working with the team in Grantham.”
As for a Specialbuy that gets him running to the middle aisle, Simon said: “I love all the food Specialbuys. It’s always really exciting to see what will come in.”
Mary Dunn, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “With around 45,000 colleagues in the UK, it’s fair to say that people are our biggest and most brilliant asset at Aldi.
“Simon is no exception, and his commitment to Aldi’s values is testament to why we are loved by so many. We look forward to celebrating even more of his achievements in the coming years.
“As well as offering every colleague the job satisfaction they deserve, we invest in a whole range of fantastic training courses year after year, making sure all our colleagues love being a part of Team Aldi.”
