The award-winning Grantham Operatic Society (GOS) are delighted to bring ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ to the beautiful setting of St Wulfram’s Grantham in September.
Follow our young hero Frederic, as he graduates from his apprenticeship with ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ and sets off to make his own way in the world – intending to live a respectable life for evermore.
However, despite falling in love with Mabel (the daughter of Major-General Stanley) a problem emerges. Frederic was due to be released from his apprenticeship on his 21st birthday but, as he was born on 29th February, Frederic discovers that he is technically still only a ‘little boy of 5’.
Can he find a way to live happily-ever-after with Mabel and reconcile his duty to the pirates?
This comic opera is packed full of sentimental pirates, blundering policeman, absurd adventures and improbable paradoxes and features the famous songs ‘I am the very model of a Modern Major-General’ and ‘A Policeman’s lot is not a happy one.’
Suitable for all ages and we are delighted to offer half price advance tickets to those 16 and under to encourage children and young people to come and experience this production.
Tickets are NOW ON SALE from the following ticket link or from the St Wulfram’s Parish Office (cash only):
