Based in Bourne near the housebuilder’s Barratt Homes at Bourne and The Willows developments, the charity is the fundraising arm of Willoughby Academy, a specialist school for pupils aged two to nineteen with a diverse range of needs.
With over 140 pupils currently enrolled at the school, The Willoughby Foundation’s main aim is to raise funds to provide additional services that the school budget can’t cover.
The donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes came as part of The Barratt Foundation, which is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.
David Tebbutt, Treasurer at The Willoughby Foundation, said: “We strive to make all pupils’ time with us as enjoyable as possible, and donations like this make that a reality.
“When we found out we had been chosen to receive £3,000 we were delighted. One of the projects we have been planning for a while is the development of an additional outdoor area for the pupils to enjoy. This fantastic donation will directly be going towards fulfilling that plan.
“The Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme is an excellent initiative. It’s a lovely idea to have employees choose local charities with a cause that is close to their hearts, and where they can see their money making a real difference.
“We would like to thank Barratt and David Wilson Homes once again for its generous donation which will help to make a real difference.”
Will Phair, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “As a leading housebuilder we strive to support the communities in and around the areas in which we build, and we are delighted to be able to offer The Willoughby Foundation a donation to support the fantastic work it does.
“The Willoughby Foundation make such a difference to so many lives that need the help most. It is truly heart-warming to see the support and hope the charity offers.”
