After campaigning for 13 years it was great to see the final results of Grantham Town Council elections. Our first in 50 years.
The result was a resounding success for Independents overall as 16 Grantham Working Together and 2 Grantham Democratic Independent Councillors were elected.
Three Labour councillors and one Conservative Councillor, who stood under the banner Save our Green spaces, were also elected.
Having been involved in the process from inception and as a member of the District Community Governance Review, I was deeply moved at the support both myself and my husband John Morgan have received.
The low precept approved by SKDC will restrict what the Council can do as we bed-in but electing a mayor, consulting with our communities, responding to Planning applications and looking at areas currently covered by the District Special Expenses Area budget are possible.
Whatever we do, we look forward to listening to our residents, supporting the new Town Council and working with all elected members for the greater good of our town.
Best regards
Cllr Charmaine Morgan – (Democratic Independent)
Grantham St Vincent’s Ward
Town Councillor and SKDC Councillor
