With hundreds of walking trails to choose from, whether you’re looking for a bracing coastal hike or a gentle woodland stroll, there are plenty of opportunities to get outdoors and connect with nature. From the beautiful browns and blazing reds to vibrant oranges and golden yellows, autumn is a time of year when you can witness nature’s colour palette in its full glory. As well as trees putting on their annual display of autumn colour, there’s weird and wonderful fungi to spot, fruit laden hedgerows and long lingering light that makes this one of the most stunning seasons of the year for exploring.

Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire

Belton House in Lincolnshire
Admire historical highlights and the majestic deer herd at Belton Park, in Lincolnshire: Wander through woodland and diverse wildlife habitats, as you explore over 1300 acres of parkland at Belton. You’ll pass historic structures and the site of a deserted medieval village, as well as taking in the recently restored wetland. A scenic route to a still pond at Gunby: This short walk from the Gunby gardens in is a popular meander that takes you away from the usual visiting routes. Tread across the scenic flatlands with their peaceful panoramas and walk through fields filled with fallen leaves to arrive at a sheltered haven called the ‘Icehouse Pond’.
