South Kesteven District Council can help take the stress out of gardening by collecting green bins direct from your property.
Flowers, plants, leaves, hedge trimmings, grass cuttings, bark, weeds, twigs and small branches can all go in the green bin.
It is a convenient and cost-effective way to recycle your garden waste. Thousands of households are already taking advantage of the fortnightly collection service – and it’s not too late to sign up to the garden waste collection scheme.
SKDC’s Cabinet Member for Waste Services and Climate Change, Mark Whittington said: “We collect your hedge trimmings, leaves, grass cuttings, plants and weeds from your doorstep every two weeks, saving you time that you can spend in your garden.
“SKDC’s service is more comprehensive than many other councils with collections running all year round and not stopping altogether in the winter. We empty garden waste bins every other week except for a short period in the winter, due to operational reasons and a lack of customer demand.
“The waste collected in the garden waste bins is sent to a composting facility where it is shredded and composted. The resulting material is used on farmland as a soil improver and fertiliser, although this is not currently available for sale to the public.”
Customers can renew or register right now at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/greenbin
Members pay an annual fee to join the service and there is no limit to the number of garden waste bins they can have.
