The A1 southbound between Grantham and Colsterworth was closed for several hours following a “serious” road traffic collision.
The road was closed between the A607 Melton Mowbray turn-off to B6403 Woolsthorpe/Easton sliproad). from about 11pm on December 21 to about 8.30am on December 22.
Motorists travelling from further afield were urged to divert via the M1. This was due to an unplanned emergency closure on the original diversion route.
A diversion route was put in place, but later changed. National Highways said: “Due to an unplanned emergency closure on the A607 in Melton Mowbray which would make up part of the official diversion route traffic is instead being diverted via local routes.
“Traffic travelling from further afield are advised to head south using the M1.”
It was repened at about 8.30am this morning following recovery work.
