Coun Charmaine Morgan says…
Centrebus service change affects our community I have written the following letter to Centrebus and LCC re changes to our bus service…if you are aware of other issues please let me know.
A county wide review of bus services is currently taking place.
Dear Sir/Madam
I have been contacted by a 93 year old lady living in my ward who is acting on behalf of a number of elderly Grantham residents badly affected by changes to the bus timetable in the Grantham area.
Whoever made those changes appears to have little local knowledge.
Firstly during the week the service at Sandon Close, which used to run near 0945 now runs at 0905. This is too early for Sandon Close residents to get ready. It also means the bus arrival clashes with the St Mary’s School run. Sandon Close is a narrow cul de sac.
Parents parking block the bus access so the buses don’t come up the close.
This leaves the elderly residents left stranded in the cold waiting for a bus that will not show.
We are also struggling to save Grantham Market which is held every Saturday. Centrebus have stopped buses running on Saturday leaving pensioners across the Grantham area including Somerby Hill and Woolsthorpe unable to get a bus to market.
This was an important social event as well as much needed shopping trip for our residents.
No doubt others reliant on the bus to get to Grantham on Saturday, including the hospital, will be affected too.
When my resident complained to the bus driver she was told it was not their responsibility but Lincolnshire County Council’s. These decisions tend to be made jointly.
Please arrange for someone to contact me to discuss this matter and to restore the service.
Best regards Charmaine
