Shopmobilty Melton Mowbray recently received a donation of £1000 from Barchester Charitable Foundation,
The donation enabled them to replace two aged scooters with an airline friendly fold up ‘Luggie’ and a standard bootable scooter – ie one that can be taken apart to be easily placed in the boot of a car.
Administrator at Shopmobility MM, Glyn Birch is pictured with Karen Olivant of Barchester Newton House Nursing Home in Grantham who made the presentation on behalf of the Charitable Foundation. I
He was able to demonstrate the scooters that the donation enabled them to buy.
Shopmobility Melton has been operating since 2006, and located in a portacabin in the St Mary’s Way car park since 2008.
They hire wheelchairs and mobility scooters to those with mobility issues and a hire can be for a day, a weekend or longer. They have regular hirers from Melton and further afield and would be happy to help GM followers should they want our assistance.
He said; “I would certainly recommend ‘try before you buy’ because scooters can be very expensive and it is easier to spend time trying out the various scooters that we have rather than buying in haste.”
