South Kesteven District Council is encouraging anyone who has not yet registered to vote in upcoming by-elections to register online before next week’s deadline.
Thursday 10 November is polling day for the by-elections in Grantham St Wulfram’s Ward and Bourne East Ward so residents wishing to vote must have registered by midnight on Tuesday 25 October.
Registering to vote is quick and simple to do. In addition to the usual details of name, address and previous address, you’ll be asked to provide your date of birth, your nationality and your National Insurance number.
Register your details online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Voting by postal or proxy vote
If you are unable to vote at the polling station on polling day, you can choose to apply to vote via post or by proxy (appointing someone else to vote at the polling station for you).
However, people wishing to use a postal vote are being urged to apply for it and return it as soon as possible, due to the planned postal strikes. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 26 October.
The deadline for applying for a proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 2 November.
