Village pub near Grantham gets in AA’s latest Restaurant Guide

Greater Lincolnshire full of top places to eat according to AA’s new Restaurant Guide 2023

The county boasts 16 eateries named in the AA guide – although disappointingly few are in the Grantham area.

AA’s Restaurant Guide 2023, which seeks out and names the country’s leading eateries. In the 29th edition of the guide, over 1,4000 places to eat were awarded rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA’s professional inspectors.

Each have been named alongside detailed descriptions of each destination, information on latest chef changes, opening times, sample menu prices and images of many of the featured locations.

This year, Stamford stands out as a place with exceptional food and drink in Lincolnshire.

The top counties in the UK with the highest number of featured eateries are London (172 restaurants), North Yorkshire (68), Devon (59), Cumbria (57) Cornwall (42) Gloucestershire and Norfolk (38), Hampshire (36), Suffolk (32) Ken (31) and Oxfordshire (30).

Restaurants, many of which are actually pubs, can be awarded anything from one to five rosettes, with one signifying somewhere achieving standards that stand out in their local area. More rosettes are then awarded according to food quality, service, seasonality and consistency.

Restaurants with five rosettes are described as the “pinnacle”, where the cooking compares with the “best in the world”. The AA says these restaurants will have highly individual voices, exhibit breath-taking culinary skills and set the standards to which others aspire, yet few achieve.
