East Midlands accountancy firm Duncan & Toplis has promoted eight members of staff to senior roles after experiencing an “incredible” period of growth.
Alison Smith, Chris Wright, Amy Codd, Daniel Smithson, Rachel Rudkin and Mark Foster have all become directors at the Lincolnshire firm, while Vanessa McConnell and Chris Bradford have been promoted to associate level.
Duncan & Toplis has grown to become the UK’s 34th largest accountancy and business advisory company in recent years.
Now, having expanded its range of corporate finance and marketing services, the firm says it is looking to fill a variety of tax management, auditing and client support roles, with 21 jobs available overall.
In 1925 two Nottingham based Chartered Accountants, Stanley Duncan and Eric Toplis, decided to start their own practice. Opening in Mansfield Road, Nottingham they soon decided upon a second base in Grantham and the partners regularly travelled by train or car to service the clients.
The Grantham office was on the High Street in Barclays Bank (now The Old Bank) Chambers and extended over the first, second and third floors.
In the late 1950s John Hindmarch joined and soon after qualifying became a partner. He recruited his right hand man, Keith Johnson, and by the late 60s a period of rapid growth began. At this time the office only employed 15 or so people in Grantham.
At this time the move to 3 Castlegate occurred with the acquisition of nos 4 and 5 very soon afterwards. Mergers with Baldock & Gregory and Bridger Wells & Co both of Avenue Road, followed.
Adrian Reynolds, managing director at Duncan & Toplis, said: “These eight promotions reflect the incredible growth of Duncan & Toplis, despite the varied impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and other external factors affecting the wider UK economy.
“This is a real accolade for our company. It speaks to the incredible drive and sheer vigour of our growing team and it’s our responsibility to ensure that talent is recognised and nurtured for the benefit of businesses across the East Midlands.
“I’m delighted to welcome Alison, Amy, Chris, Daniel, Rachel and Mark as directors, and I’m thrilled that Vanessa and Chris are moving into associate roles. I’m certain that they’ll underpin the excellence and insight that Duncan & Toplis has become synonymous with in the region.”
Duncan & Toplis operates from twelve offices across the East Midlands in Grantham, Boston, Lincoln, Loughborough, Louth, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Skegness, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford.
