A major programme which provides opportunities for young people to develop new skills and strengthen their career prospects has relaunched in Lincolnshire.
The Prince’s Trust Team Programme Lincolnshire, which operates across Grantham and Lincoln, offers participants a free 12-week employability course which aims to help young people develop employability skills and enhance their CVs.
The programme has not been operational in the area since before the pandemic, but is now relaunching with new team leaders and a host of new activities.
It is open to young people aged between 16 and 25 who are not in education, employment or training, and organisers are urging those who would like to take part to get in touch.
The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is delivered in the area by college group WCG, which is the largest provider of programmes for the Trust in England.
The full-time programme includes an all-inclusive, fully paid for residential holiday including a range of outdoor activities, a two-week work placement relevant to the career goals of each individual and the chance to work on a variety of community projects in conjunction with local groups.
It also features careers talks and taster days, individual development support and teamwork skills-building opportunities.
The programme is set to begin on May 9, and those interested in taking part can now get in touch to apply.
Sally Heron, Princes Trust Team Programme Coordinator Lincolnshire, said: “We’re extremely excited to relaunch the programme which we have been unable to run in the area for a number of years due to Covid.
“We’re coming back bigger and better than ever, with exciting new activities, opportunities and a brand-new team.
“The pandemic has been incredibly difficult for young people who are unsure of their next steps, and we will be supporting them to build their confidence and self-esteem.
“We will also be helping them to develop a range of new skills and providing them with support as they look towards moving into further education, training or employment.
“Participants are involved in a number of really rewarding projects, and it is also a fantastic opportunity to have fun and make life-long friends.
“The programme is classed as a full-time education programme, so it does not affect any benefits that the participants are entitled to. Very often the Job Centre is also able to support with travel costs.
“We would urge anyone interested in taking part in the free programme to get in touch. We’re also keen to hear if there’s a need for the programme in other areas of Lincolnshire as we can expand into new areas to meet this demand.”
