A total of 39 people in Lincolnshire – 10 of them in Grantham – started their 2022 in a police cell after a busy New Year’s Eve for the county’s police force.
Chief Insp Phil Vickers said three of those arrested were being questioned on suspicion of assaulting emergency services workers.
He said eight people were arrested in Skegness, nine in Boston, 10 in Grantham and 12 in Lincoln.
Of those arrested, 37 were adults and two were youths with 32 being male and 7 being female
He added that three of the 39 arrested were for driving while under the influence of drink or drugs as part of Lincolnshire Police’s Fatal Four campaign, which aims to cut down on drink or drug-driving.
It was expected to be a somewhat quieter New Year’s Eve in city and town centres around the country due to the surge in coronavirus cases across the country.
