A leisure Centre that suffered an arson attack earlier this week say their plans to reopen this month are on target
Police confirmed earlier this week that Saturday’s blaze, tackled by five fire crews, is being treated as araon.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We received a report of this at 6.43pm.
“We are aware it was a large fire and it is being treated as arson. A group of youths are said to have ran away from the scene.”
A large quantity of tyres and pallets, a trailer, trees and vegetation were destroyed.
Nearby residents had been advised to keep doors and windows closed as smoke filled the air during the incident.
Fire crews from Sleaford, Grantham, Broughton, Billingborough and Holbeach attended a fire at a “commercial premises on Ermine Street, Ancaster”.
Investigations into unknown persons seen on site are ongoing
The Ancaster site is a huge multi-activity indoor and outdoor pursuits and activity venue which is set to reopen on April 12 as lockdown restrictions are eased.
Ancaster Leisure issued a statement saying: “We are relieved to say that the arson fire at Ancaster Leisure was contained to just a non-operational storage area of the site by the fire crews.
“Their fast and effective action meant that the fire did not spread significantly into the woodlands or into buildings.
“We can confirm that this has not affected our activities or dampened our spirits and we will re-open as planned to welcome everyone again to enjoy some much-needed fun activities to share with friends, colleagues and relatives!”
The re-opening date for the paintball, karting and other activities, remains as Monday April 12
Ancaster Leisure is a family-run business, established in November 1991.
