Police were called to an address in South Witham at 11.24 am this morning following a fire. There were no injuries reported and a 63 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
Chemicals were found at the address and some of the rooms were inaccessible.
The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team will therefore be attending and assisting us as a precaution. A number of homes in the direct vicinity will be evacuated.
Police would like to sincerely thank the local community for their support and patience as we work to ensure the safety of all.
A Police spokesman said: “We would like to reassure the community that this incident has been safely concluded.”
