The future of Lincolnshire Police Cadet Corps depends on the recruitment of leaders.
Could you help to inspire and develop the future generation?
Deputy Chief Constable Jason Harwin emphasised the importance of this role, “In nurturing, supporting and sharing your life experiences with these young people, you also help shape the future of Policing. As a leader, you give your time and energy, but you are rewarded greatly with the privilege of seeing how each cadet benefits and grows from the experience. As a mentor you will develop their skills and potential; you will broaden their horizons and enhance their life prospects. We are immensely proud of our cadets who are a credit to the force and to their generation. However without good leaders, they would not get this unique opportunity to learn and shine.”
The Force has seven Volunteer Cadet Corps around the county based at Lincoln (HQ), Boston, Bourne, Grantham, Louth, Skegness and Spalding. The corps are run by Police Officers, Police Staff and Police Support Volunteers, some of whom were themselves former Police Cadets.
The Volunteer Cadet Corps consists of young people between the ages of 13 and 18 who have an interest in policing. Cadet Leaders promote an understanding of policing using different media, ranging from formal lesson plans to project work to practical exercises and role play. For example they take part in stop and search scenarios, mock road traffic offences, Remembrance parades, public engagement, crime prevention, fitness sessions, charity work and Force ceremonies.
We are looking to recruit more Cadet Leaders to support the excellent work being done by existing leaders; to provide leader resilience and to ensure that the Volunteer Cadet Corps in Lincolnshire continue for many years. Whilst all Corps would welcome additional resources, we are particularly looking for assistance at Lincoln- Headquarters.
The Cadet Corps meet each Wednesday evening for 2 hours and will from time to time be involved in events, initiatives or projects at other times. If you have a few spare hours and are interested in helping out as a Cadet Leader either on a regular or ad hoc basis you can apply now or contact the Volunteers Team: volunteers@lincs.pnn.police.uk
