Day Break clients at Grantham College are on a mission to raise over £10,000 to pay for their ‘magic’ sensory carpet which will stimulate and engage them with over 500 applications.
So far, Day Break has raised £1707.03 through a variety of activities including a Halloween dance, raffles and cake sales, and to keep the donations coming, they have plenty more in the pipeline. On Friday 6 December, they’ll be going around the college selling their homemade bakes. Grantham College’s Student Union are hosting a quiz night on Thursday 12 December and Friday 13 December will see a dance fuelled evening in the Refectory as Day Break hold a Christmas party with a raffle full of prizes donated by local businesses.
This worthy cause has engaged the community too with local girl, Heather Baptie-Bishop pledging to shave her head when she raises £3000 and staff of the college are planning to give up their favourite things come the new year in return for sponsorship.
IT Manager, James Meenaghan came up with the idea of 100 days without your favourite things and has vowed to give up cakes, biscuits and alcohol for little over 3 months while Graphic Designer, Chelsea Toulson has promised to give up wearing make up for the duration.
Day Break and the college welcomes outside support; whether you would be willing to give up your favourite thing for 100 days in return for donations, if you would like to sponsor Heather’s head shave or hold your own event to raise money on behalf of Day Break’s clients, please get in touch with us by emailing marketing@grantham.ac.uk
