Celebrations are in order after a group of both staff and students graduated from their foundation degree course at a ceremony in Lincoln.
Students Lauren Steele and Andrea Sande joined Learning Development staff members Maria Spicer, Stuart McLean and Jayne Miller in receiving their certificates at Lincoln Cathedral.
They had recently completed a foundation degree in Professional Practice in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND).
The group of five achieved two distinctions, two merits and a pass between them, having studied the Bishop Grosseteste University course at Grantham College.
It was the first time that the usual three-year course had been condensed into two years, resulting in what Stuart described as an “intense” period of study.
Stuart believes the SEND qualification will serve him well as he aims to progress in his career.
He said: “The degree will help me advance onto teaching and become more specialised in the sector.”
Abigail Davidson, the group’s tutor, was delighted to see her students’ dedication and commitment pay off.
She said: “I am extremely proud of the hard work, self-sacrifice and professionalism the group demonstrated.
“This has resulted in outstanding results, and enabled further progression within work or study.”
Maria, who is to begin her top-up to a bachelor’s degree this month, was indebted to her tutor Abigail for her backing.
She added: “If it hadn’t been for Abigail’s support and guidance, none of us would have completed as successfully as we had.”
It’s not too late to apply to study Higher Education courses, much like this one, in the coming academic year. Please visit this link if you are interested: https://www.grantham.ac.uk/courses/course-information/?cc=HGA25191&ref=1249
