Organisers of the spectacular Gravity Fields Festival are inviting members of the public to a drop-in meeting on Monday 19 August, from 1pm-7pm, to put forward ideas to help make the 2020 programme a truly community-inspired event.
The festival, organised by South Kesteven District Council, takes place every two years in and around Grantham.
It celebrates the legacy of Sir Isaac Newton, who was born and brought up at Woolsthorpe and educated at the King’s School in Grantham.
The drop-in meeting will be held in the school’s Old Hall – a room well-known to Newton and which bears his name scratched into the window-sill.
Among the questions being asked on the day are:
- What themes would you like the festival to include?
- Which performers or science speakers would you like to see?
- Which venues are important?
- How best can businesses and the community get involved?

Gravity Fields, the five-day festival of science, arts, heritage, music and drama in 2018 attracted record audiences of around 83,000.
