A Grantham pub has gone through a major transformation, including reverting to its previous name.
The Reindeer Inn, which had changed its name to The Stagger Inn in the 1990s, has been transformed after owners, Red Oak Taverns, decided to give it a revamp.
The seating and furniture has changed and the area has been made bigger through the work that started on July 1 and took just 19 days to complete.
The London Road pub, on the corner of College Street, has also been decorated to give it a retro feel as well as a number of big TVs complete with Sky Sports.
Licencee Lesley Green says she is delighted with the end result.
She said: “I have been here for 15 years – I am a tenant and it is owned by a brewery.
“They just wanted to do up their pubs and bring them into the 21st century – we were next on the list.
“It’s been brilliant.”
The 50-year-old is especially pleased that the brewery, which has owned the pub for four years, has agreed to revert to the pub’s former name.
“It was originally The Reindeer 20 years ago. When I moved in 15 years ago it was called The Stagger Inn. I asked to change it but the brewery at the time wouldn’t.
“When it was being done up, I asked if we could go back to the old name and they agreed.”
The Reindeer was built by John Blank in 1867 and he ran it until 1903.
