In memory of Naomi Fardell -a team will be leaving today, Friday 26th July, heading to Great Ormond St Hospital aiming to set off early Saturday 27th July and making our way back on their trusty bikes to finish at The Kingfisher Unit at Grantham Hospital.
They will then greet their families and supporters at The Guildhall on Sunday (with an overnight stop on the Saturday night at Peterborough for some much needed bike family beers).
The 2019 team is: Dean Fardell, Chloe Fardell, Charlie Green, Emma Church, Nick Johnson, Debbie Johnson, Gav Cranidge, Jack Cranidge, Jay Wright, Izzy Wright, Claire Balfe, Darren Crompton, Kev Storey, Sally Storey, Chris Watson, Dan Bates, Kelly Tyers, Simon Walker, Nathan Smith all with one mission: to raise funds for our local community and services held at the Kingfisher Unit in Grantham, much needed lifesaving equipment for Heart Link at Glenfield and Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Naomi was born in 1997, second eldest daughter to Dean and Michelle.
Four weeks after her birth it was discovered that she had severe congenital heart defects, Tricuspid Artresia, ASD, VSD Woolf Parkinson White Syndrome and Pulmonary Regurgitation.
After initial diagnosis at Grantham Kingfisher Ward and an immediate life saving operation at Glenfield, Naomi was referred to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
For the next two-and-a-half years Naomi had constant life saving operations and treatment, she continued to have constant poor health and it was then decided she would be referred to Great Ormond Street for Sick Children.
While there she had a very complicated first stage 6 hour operation but then followed 3 months of further poor health and she passed away at Glenfield Intensive Care Unit.
It has since been decided to raise funds in Naomi’s memory for the hospitals that treated her condition.
