Sunday saw the third Barkstonbury Live Music Festival at Barkston and Syston CE Primary School. The event boasted high class performances from Kelly Borkertas of Ultra 90s, Andy White of Jump, Jive and Swing, Naturally Sourced a fantastic up and coming local band and of course the Barkston School Choir.
In addition to the fantastic display of Live Music, festival goers enjoyed a licenced bar, bbq, games, bouncy castle and much more. Local businesses supported the event by providing raffle prizes, of which there were over 40.
The highlight of the day for many children (and indeed adults) was the demonstrations and talks with the Lincolnshire Police Dog Department, Mini Police and Community Police, there were sirens of joy going off all afternoon.
Ruth Clements FOBS said “Barkstonbury has become a highlight of the school’s calendar and enables FOBS (the school PTA) to raise money to purchase additional resources to enrich the learning of the pupils at the school. In addition to the money making Barkstonbury is a fantastic opportunity for pupils, teachers and parents to gather socially which provides closer links between home and school”.
Barkston & Syston School are so lucky to have such a wonderful headteacher – Sally Anne Caunter is a laid back, well loved and respected Head Teacher. Pupils hail Mrs Caunter as Epic, a Legend and The Best Head Teacher in the World, we think they are right.
