Seventeen students from Charles Read Academy travelled to the Leicestershire Countryside to compete in the annual DRET Cross Country Cup, held at Neville Holt.
The gruelling course presented a difficult challenge for the young runners who had to adapt to a number of tough terrains and demanding gradients which were both physically and mentally demanding.
Not only did the students have to display excellent physical levels of fitness they had to demonstrate high levels of determination and mental toughness to overcome the course.
Throughout the event, each and every runner who represented CRA displayed the academy’s core values of resilience and courage when playing their part for the team. Following a fantastic team effort and a number of excellent individual performances Charles Read Academy finished the event with 53 more points than they managed in 2018, evidence of the progress students continue to make here at CRA.
There were many highlights from the competition that saw a number of runners finish in the top 5 places, including a 1st & 3rd finish in the year 10 girls race.
A gold for Amy Crook and Bronze for Chloe Hudson saw CRA run out year 10 girls overall champions, seeing off competition from 10 other secondary academies.
