24 hours in Police custody

February 11, 2026 Leave a Comment

Lincolnshire Police have announced that in the last 24 hours 27 people were arrested, some of them for more than one offence. These only represent one element of police work, which can be really wide ranging, but it is an insight into what they do.

An arrest is often just the start of an investigation and happens when someone is suspected to be involved in the commission of a criminal offence and there are reasonable grounds for believing the arrest is necessary. Often people are interviewed under caution without the necessity for an arrest to be made.

The 27 people who were brought into custody in the last 24 hours,  were arrested on suspicion of committing the following offences:

Causing criminal damage
Common assault
Assault by beating
Intentional strangulation
Coercive and controlling behaviour
Drink driving
Drug driving
Fail to provide a specimen of breath
Driving without a driving licence for the vehicle being driven
No insurance
Disqualified driving
Threats to kill
Public order offence
Breach of the peace
Outraging public decency
Possession of a knife or sharply pointed article in a public place
Fraud
Burglary
Theft of a vehicle
Theft of a push bike
Breach of a stalking order
Breach of a domestic violence protection order
Breach of bail conditions
Theft from a shop
Theft from person
Wanted on warrant
Recalled to prison

People cannot be named until charged.
