South Kesteven’s new food waste collection service launched on Monday – and it’s already making a difference. More than 17 tonnes of food waste was collected on day one, as thousands of residents put their new caddies out for the first time.
The council has delivered over 65,000 caddies to homes across the district. If yours hasn’t arrived yet, you can report it missing via the SKDC website.
A few things to remember: only your outdoor caddy goes out for collection – keep the smaller indoor one inside and empty it into the larger one. And don’t worry if your food waste isn’t picked up at the same time as your usual bins – it’s collected by a separate crew in a dedicated truck.
The council has also shared a video explaining what happens to your food waste after collection – well worth a watch.
