Danish furniture store to open
The UK retail home furnishing market will receive a boost later this month (September 27th) with the opening of the ninth British store from Danish furniture retailer JYSK.
The global chain, which set foot on Britain’s shores five years ago, has confirmed it will open a store in Grantham, taking over the former Dreams bedding store, London Road.
JYSK (pronounced Yusk) is already one of the world’s biggest retail furniture groups. It recently broke the 2000th store barrier internationally. The UK was JYSK’s 30th country; the store group is now in 35.
The privately owned group opened its first UK stores in Lincoln and Mansfield in April 2008, following up with York, Blackburn, Bolton, Swadlincote, Coventry and, earlier this year, Pontefract.
The Grantham opening at 56-59 London Road, and will create 15 jobs for the town, will be at 9am on Friday, September 27.
Global, but with Scandinavian roots, the stores specialise in goods for the bedroom and bathroom, home furnishings, and sell a range of beds, mattresses, duvets, sofas, dining table sets, house wares all at value for money affordable prices, thanks to clever and ethical worldwide purchasing power. The brand is growing in popularity in the UK.
The chain has massive global purchasing power allowing price benefits to be passed onto customers, making competing with JYSK so challenging for competitors and shopping at JYSK so compelling for customers.
